Privacy & Cookies Policy
What data this site collects, why, and how to get it removed.
Last updated 16 August 2026. This policy explains what personal data Play Your Club Right collects, why, who else is involved, and what you can do about it.
The site is run by an individual in the United Kingdom and is covered by UK GDPR and PECR. There are no accounts, no passwords and nothing to buy.
Non-essential cookies — analytics and advertising — are only used if you choose to accept them through the consent tool that appears on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.
Who is responsible
Play Your Club Right is operated by Andrew Cherrie, Wakefield, United Kingdom. For any question about your data, or to make a request under the rights listed below, email hello@playyourclubright.com.
Stored on your device
Your nickname, a random identifier, your consent choice and whether you dismissed the install prompt are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are not shared with anyone, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Leaderboard entries
If you save a score, the site stores the nickname you type, your score, the club and mode you played, and a random identifier generated in your browser so your own entry can be highlighted back to you. Your IP address is recorded briefly and used only to limit how often scores can be submitted.
Nicknames appear publicly on the leaderboard. Do not use your real name if you would rather not be identified.
Lawful basis: consent, given by choosing to save a score.
Analytics
With your consent, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and game modes get used. It may collect pages viewed, device and browser information, approximate location, traffic source and interactions with site features.
Analytics storage is denied by default using Google Consent Mode — nothing is stored or reported until you grant consent through the consent tool. You can withdraw consent at any time using the same tool and collection stops.
Lawful basis: consent.
Advertising
This site is funded by advertising, served by Google AdSense and the advertising partners it works with. There is no advertising in the iOS app.
Where you consent, advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show you personalised advertising and to display ads, measure how they perform, prevent fraud and abuse, limit how often you see the same advertisement, and select advertising relevant to your interests.
If you do not consent, you will still see advertising, but it will be non-personalised — chosen by page context rather than from a profile of your interests or browsing history.
Information processed may include device and browser information, IP address, cookie and device identifiers, and interactions with advertisements. Where you give separate consent for it, this may also include precise location data and information obtained by actively scanning device characteristics. These are presented as distinct choices in the consent tool and are not used unless you allow them.
Google's own explanation of how it uses data from sites running its ads is available at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Its list of advertising technology providers is published here.
Advertisers do not receive your nickname, your scores, or anything else you enter into the game.
Lawful basis: consent for personalised advertising; legitimate interests in funding the site for non-personalised advertising.
Cookie preferences
Consent for non-essential cookies is collected through a certified consent management platform, which appears the first time you visit and records your choices for both analytics and advertising.
Cookies fall into three categories:
- Strictly necessary — needed to run the site securely and remember your consent choice. Always active; these do not require consent.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, used only after you consent. Denied by default via Google Consent Mode.
- Advertising — used by Google and its partners to deliver and measure advertising. Personalised only where you consent; otherwise non-personalised.
Advertising involves a large number of partners and that list changes over time, so it is not reproduced here. The full, current list, together with the purposes and data each relies on, is available inside the consent tool itself.
To review, change or withdraw consent at any time, use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. It reopens the consent tool so you can change any choice. Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately for future processing. Your consent choices are stored for a limited period, after which you will be asked again.
Leaderboard integrity and abuse prevention
To keep the leaderboard fair, the site processes limited technical information — IP address and rate-limiting counters — to detect and prevent forged scores, automated submissions and other misuse. Rate-limiting records are deleted automatically within an hour.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests in running a fair and reliable game.
Service providers
A small number of providers process data on the site's behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, security and protection against malicious traffic. Processes standard technical information such as IP addresses and browser information.
- Cloudflare D1 — the database storing leaderboard entries.
- Google — analytics and advertising, as described above.
International transfers
Some of these providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where that happens, appropriate safeguards are relied on — adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses — in accordance with applicable data protection law.
US state privacy laws
Where you consent, limited identifiers and usage data are shared with advertising partners in order to deliver and measure personalised advertising. Under some US state privacy laws this may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can review or withdraw your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with the providers listed above under their own security controls. Because there are no accounts and no passwords, there is no login credential to protect.
Contact forms
The contact, sponsorship and request-a-club forms open your own email application. Nothing you type is sent to or stored by this website. Once you send the email, the contents sit in the site's inbox and are used only to reply to you, investigate issues and improve the game. Correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry.
Using the app
The iOS app is covered by this policy, with two differences. The app contains no analytics and no advertising, so nothing is sent to Google, no cookies are set and no consent banner appears — there is nothing to consent to.
All club and player data is stored on your device, so the game works with no connection. The only time the app contacts the server is when you save a score to the leaderboard or view the leaderboards, and what is stored then is exactly as described above: your chosen nickname, your score, the club and mode, and a random identifier generated on your device.
How long data is kept
Leaderboard entries are kept indefinitely so records stand, unless you ask for yours to be removed. Rate-limiting records of IP addresses are deleted automatically within an hour. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics. Email correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EEA you have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you
- have inaccurate information corrected
- have personal data deleted in certain circumstances
- restrict processing in certain circumstances
- object to certain processing
- withdraw consent where processing relies on it
- data portability where applicable
To exercise any of these, email hello@playyourclubright.com. For leaderboard entries, send the nickname you used and it will be removed. You can also block cookies in your browser, or use a browser extension to block Google Analytics.
If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
The site is aimed at a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. No account is needed to play. If you believe a child's personal data has been submitted, email the address above and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
